- Session 1: An introduction to the Dark Goddess and dancing with shadow energies (90 minutes)
- Session 2: Dancing with our unique shadow (90 minutes)
- Session 3: Dancing our shadow into the light and healing ritual (120 minutes)
Dancing with our shadow can be both transformative and healing. Carl Jung said that the stories and symbols mapped out in the tarot are the “descendants of the archetypes of transformation.” He also believed that the shadow is one of the most powerful archetypal forces. The shadow is often described as our “inner demons” and can be felt as the part of us that is so overwhelming in its darkness and heaviness that we don’t know how to deal with it. The tarot offers a safe and supportive map to work with our shadow.
During this three-part series, we used the tarot to dance with our shadow and usher it into light, using the Dark Goddess Tarot deck, by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince.
The Dark Goddess Tarot is a beautiful and powerful deck follows the traditional structure of a tarot deck, and its archetypal journey, but replaces the images with those of powerful goddess and female figures from around that world. Ellen says that the “Dark Goddess Tarot is inspired by and intended for troubled times. Not to deny pain or celebrate it, but to look at it with honesty, address it with honor, then do something about it.”
